ORGANIZATION:

Base Station Transceiver Systems

Developer of real-time software used for the control and implementation of telecommunications standards based equipment. Knowledge and experience in the physical layer of one or more of GSM/GPRS/EDGE is an advantage.





DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Development of real-time embedded software using primarily the ‘C’ programming language, in the domain of GSM/GPRS/EDGE base station control and signal processing algorithms.

•    Implementation of specifications from the European Telecomunications Standard Institute (ETSI) as algorithms on the Base Station and Speech Transcoder platforms. 

•    Engage in a formal development lifecycle from requirements capture through implementation, test and product support through to deployment of products



EDUCATION:

Master in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent knowledge





ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Strong ‘C’ and ‘C++’ skills in  real-time embedded systems.

•    Minimum 2 year’s first hand development experience in the physical layer of one or more of GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSxPA/LTE/WiMax or a closely related technology

•    Strong knowledge in real time operating systems

•    Knowledge of formal software development lifecycles, tools (compilers, linkers, assemblers,  debugging and test environments including IDE’s  and source code managers)

•    Very good problem solving and debugging skills

•    Good honors degree in computing, electronic engineering or closely related subject





TYPE OF KNOWLEDGE BASE PREFERRED

•    Knowledge of the Motorola/Freescale 68K or PPC computing architectures

•    Knowledge of DSP development practices in assembly language and/or ‘C’ an advantage

•    Knowledge of one or both of Motorola/Freescale 56K or the TI C60 processors an advantage

•    Experience of low-level device driver/hardware control algorithms

•    Experience of signal processing algorithms (e.g. but not restricted to forward error correction, speech encoding, encryption, channel estimation, equalization)
