{Position 1: System Test QA Intern}

VMware is seeking talented Computer Science or Computer Engineering interns to

 join our system test QA team. Your duties will include: 



•Performs testing on VMware Flagship Virtual Infrastructure products 

•Write and update test documents, test cases 

•Enhancement and creation of QA Automation test scripts and configuratio

ns based on project needs, execute automated test and analyze test results 

•Develop tools for the QA team 





Requirements 



•Majoring in Computer Science or related is required 

•Able to work fulltime for 3 months or longer since 2008 May; 

•Linux/Unix and Windows environments and OS knowledge. 

•Working knowledge and hand on coding experience in one or more of the f

ollowing programming: Perl, Shell script, Java 

•understanding of PC peripherals (storage, USB, etc) 

•Networking knowledge 

•Good trouble shooting and debugging skills to find the root cause 

•Excellent written and verbal English communications and organization sk

ills 

•Experience with SilkTest and or Python is a big plus 

•Experience with industrial tool writing is a big plus 

•Knowledge of software QA methodology is a big plus 

•Knowledge of software life cycle is a plus 

•Networking configuration/setup hands-on experience is a plus

{Position 2: Globalization (G11n) QA Intern}

VMware is seeking talented Computer Science or Computer Engineering interns to

 join our Globalization (G11n) QA team. Your duties will include: 



Performs manual testing on VMware software using existing test plans and scrip

ts

Enhancement and creation of QA Automation test scripts and configurations base

d on project needs, execute automated test and analyze test results

Enters defects found into defect tracking system



Requirements 



Majoring in Computer Science or related is required

Able to work fulltime for 3 months or longer since 2008 January;

Linux/Unix and Windows environments and OS knowledge.

Programming languages:  C and C++

Scripting languages: Perl and/or Java script

Networking knowledge

Excellent written and verbal English communications and organization skills

Experience with SilkTest and or Python is a big plus

Networking configuration/setup hands-on experience is a big plus

Experience with industrial tool writing is a big plus

Knowledge of software Internationalization and Localization is a big plus

Bilingual in English and one or more of these languages is a big plus: German,

 Russian, Japanese, French

Knowledge of software QA methodology is a big plus

Knowledge of software life cycle is a plus

 

Period and requirments:

The students should work at least 4 days fulltime for >= 6 months;

The students must get paper approval from the university or his mentor for att

{Position 3: CPD-Intern ESX Software Engineer}

VMware Inc., a pioneer in virtualization software for industry-standard comput

ers, is seeking a technical intern for the Continuing Product Development R&D 

organization to work on enterprise-class management software. This candidate w

ill work with product and engineering management to help analyze and refine pr

oduct requirements and propose functional requirements, designs and implementa

tions. The applicant must have a strong understanding of the software developm

ent process with an excellent track record in troubleshooting and diagnostics.

 



Responsibilities 

- Develop and enhance various features for our flagship ESX products

- Perform root cause analysis and resolution for customer related product issu

es 

- Utilize problem analysis expertise in defect and performance issue resolutio

n to manage and resolve product defects 

- Setup test environments and validate fixes provided for defects. Perform man

ual and automated testing. 



Requirements: 

- Strong education background in computer science or a related field from a to

p-tier school. 

- Good OS fundamentals. 

- Exceptionally smart, hard-working, and has a can-do attitude. 

- Strong teamwork 

- Strong written and oral English communication skills.
