Automation Bridge Program (AB)

Business Environment

The Automation Bridge Program is a set of projects designed at increasing the
automation rate in the RMCs(Remote Management Centers), looking at many ways t
o automate work and some of them are using existing technology solutions like
Open View. We currently are driving the template changes in OV to do better e
vent filtering, therefore reducing the number incidents that the RMC has to ha
ndle.

We are also looking at a better deployment of scripting also known as Run Book
Automation (an industry term) to do some of the routine, repetitive tasks tha
t an agent would normally perform.

Position One: BRE Automation Producers

HPS running an automatic incident support system to easy the life of front sup
port engineer. But with the fast change if IT infrastructure and HP business,
this system running Business Rule Engine to avoid the impact. Automation Bridg
e BRE (Business Rule Engine) Team is response for delivery the complex of chan
ging business of HP Service Support.

1. Job description
Candidates’ function will be to produce business logic in the form of Busines
s Language Rule which running on the Business Rule Engine to automate the manu
al processing of incidents.
The rules will be developed for InRule & ILOG Jrule.

Their function is called Automation Producers.

Automation Producers will be responsible for design & coding, development, tes
t, implementation, documentation, rollout and maintenance.

Automation Producers will work under the supervision of Automation Analysts.


The job is to be done in an Operations environment, and not a per project enga
gement.

2. Requirements

Interpersonal requirements for all candidates:
• Good level of English both spoken and written.
• Communication skills
• Ability to work in team and in virtual organization.
• Ability to work with a minimum of direct supervision or guidance from
others.
• Mentoring and coaching ability.
• Interpersonal sensitivity.

At least 1 to 2 years of experience on OO programming.


Ideally candidates will be familiarized with incident and problem management,
ITIL and tools used for this propose in both ITO and FS spaces (WFM, OVSD, EWM
, Service Center).


Position Two: RBA Automation Producers

1. Job Description

RBA Automation Producers in RBA play the main role on working the new automati
on solution and products for worldwide customers in RMCs.

As a RBA automation producer, you will work with other worldwide engineers, Sy
stem Architect, PM and team member in other sub-projects under Automation Prog
ram to establish plan, design, implement and test new automation solution and
product for the global RMC team. You will participate as a member of a team of
Automation producer designing and implementing these solutions.

In addition, you will also work closely with the technical support engineers t
o evaluate and analyze customer issues with existing products, work in collabo
ration with developers to generate, implement and validate the solution and en
hancements, and release updates to our existing customers.

2. Requirements

• Thorough working knowledge in all kinds Windows Server Systems, especi
ally of Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2003 Server and their different patche
s. Familiar with UNIX system is a plus.
• Good understanding of the concept of Operation Support, ITIL Support p
rocess, knowing HP Open View products (like OVSD, Data Protector) is a plus.

• Broad technical and business knowledge to understand and relate to cus
tomer information systems problems and requirements
• Proficient in scripts language in Visual Basic Script, Bat Script and
Perl script for Windows management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to discuss with E
nglish-speaking person independently to find and solve the issue.
• Ability to work with partner organizations in multiple locations, mult
iple time zones
• Proven problem-solving skills and techniques
• At lease 1 ~ 2 years experience IT Service and Support
